Parent Information Committee

The PIC (Parent Information Committee) has the following initiatives:

Meetings every other month - third Wednesday of each month, 8:30-9:30am in SSMS Cafeteria

  • Get the inside scoop from our Principals regarding what’s going on at our school
  • Hear from a guest speaker about a topic important to parents of middle schoolers
  • Get to know your Principals
  • Meet other parents
  • Parents may attend PIC meetings on a drop-in basis - regular attendance is not required.

Monthly newsletter

  • Recap of our meetings
  • Information about happenings that are important to parents of middle schoolers

Support students, teachers & staff

  • Granting for teacher wish lists
  • Teacher meals
  • Teacher appreciation

Minimal amount of fundraising to fund our initiatives

PIC Fundraising

We don’t do much fundraising at SSMS, but we do ask everyone to participate in these opportunities for easy, free money.

City MarketCity Market.jpg

Register your City Market card, shop as you normally do, and a percentage of your purchases will be donated to our school. 

You need to re-register your City Market card on their website every January.  To register, go to their website  and click on Enroll Now.  You can register your card by entering either the card number, or by entering the Alternate ID number - the phone number that you enter for savings when you are checking out at City Market.  Be sure to select Steamboat Springs Middle School as your rewards recipient.

When you receive an AmeriGas propane delivery, the invoice will contain a special School Days receipt.  Please save these receipts and drop them off at the SSMS office. Our school receives 2 cents for every gallon purchased.  The dollars add up for our school!   

Box Tops for EducationBox Tops for Education logo

Clip and collect Box Tops coupons from participating products and deposit them in the Box Tops bin in the school office.  Each is worth 10 cents, and that adds up quickly when everyone participates.

SSMS PIC receives 15% of the ride revenue at the Carnival that is held in the Meadows Lot each spring.  This is our biggest fundraiser!

The funds collected are mainly used to purchase items from teacher wish lists that don’t fit into their budgets otherwise.
