Steamboat Springs School District Awarded Grant Funding for EV Buses

The Steamboat Springs School District (SSSD) has been awarded $2.5 million in grant funding through the EPA and Colorado Electric School Bus programs.

This funding will enable the district to purchase three full-size Type D electric school buses, two Type A electric school buses (including one non-CDL bus), and three DC fast-charging stations to support the fleet.

SSSD is in the process of finalizing the grant award and plans to place vehicle orders next month. The project is expected to be completed by August 2025, with the new buses ready for use at the start of the 2025–26 school year.

SSSD currently operates seven electric school buses on daily routes, underscoring the district's commitment to sustainability and cleaner transportation solutions.
